After causing a stir by insinuating that Taipei is a city for “gluttony,” CNN affiliate CNNGo is at it again. This time it’s targeting the Chinese century egg, calling it the world’s most revolting food. Taiwan isn’t specifically mentioned, so the article is unlikely to provoke a backlash locally, but at least one century egg lover is defending the dish.

平民美食皮蛋在CNN 的網站上被評選為全球最噁心食物第一名，因為皮蛋"外型怪異，味道嚇人"，其他像是韓國狗肉，柬埔寨的炸狼蛛也都榜上有名，這個結果，讓不少喜愛皮蛋的人們大抱不平。

Many locals love to eat pidan, which is also known as century egg, but a CNN-affiliated website listed the dish as the world’s most revolting food. The report said the eggs really do taste like they’re a 100 years old, and a CNN reporter said, quote, “It’s awful – it tastes like the devil cooked eggs for me.” News of the report has led to complaints from locals.

有不少人很喜歡吃皮蛋，但CNN網站，竟然把皮蛋列為「全球最噁心食物」，還說"像放有一世紀的蛋”，試吃的記者更寫道"實在是太遭了，就像是魔鬼煮的蛋"，這個結果，讓許多人大抱不平。

Some say the eggs are listed first because they have a strange odor.

但其實皮蛋之所以名列第一，就是因為聞起來怪怪的。

為了讓蛋黃軟嫩，外皮有彈性，製作過程中，得加入氫氧化鈉，茶葉，鹽等材料，經過化學作用，會產生氨基酸，散發出一種類似阿磨尼亞的臭味，但其實吃的下口。
